Gibson Studio
King, circa 1932; serial number 9427-5. Of the various names
found on Gibson-made banjos, this is probably the rarest. Tsumura
mentions it in 1001 Banjos but did not have an example to photograph.
It is mahogany, with a 40-hole archtop tone ring and hearts &
flowers inlay. This one has a tube and plate flange. The peghead
shape and flange cut-outs are similar to those on the Recording
King banjos. |
